Artists who have participated in previous Breaking into Business workshops offered by the Vermont Arts Council were invited to attend an advanced training program offered by Maren Brown and Dee Boyle-Clapp on February 21st in Montpelier, VT. Brown’s training focused on a six-step sales process for artists.

Brown co-facilitated this two-day retreat for local arts agency professionals with Mary Margaret Schoenfeld on behalf of the California Arts Council. At the two-day session, Brown led training programs on “Asset-based Community Development” and “Arts Marketing for Beginners.” The program was held in Sacramento, CA.
Researched and wrote case study reports chronicling two Massachusetts communities that were supported with funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s creative economic development program, Adams Arts Program. Case studies were developed on Worcester, Massachusetts and Fall River, Massachusetts as part of this project.
Analysis of the economic impact of University of Massachusetts Amherst College of Humanities and Fine Arts Alumni on the Pioneer Valley region of western Massachusetts. Maren Brown co-directed this project with Dr. Mike Goodman the Donahue Institute and consultant Dr. Craig Dreeszen.
Analysis of state of Massachusetts creative economy strategies on behalf of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Led team of researchers to conduct survey of previous creative economy grant recipients, conduct stakeholder interviews and research best practices nationally and internationally.
